Our Emphasis on Sterilization and Radiation Hygiene
Sterilization
At Foxx Dental of Franklin Square, optimal dental infection control and prevention is facilitated by the use of solutions that allow for improved efficiency and safety. An Instrument Management System (IMS) is used to move instruments from cleaning to chairside in a sterile manner.
Each set of instruments are neatly organized and packaged in CASSETTES that offer a sterile setup each and every time.
Dental instruments are kept together through-out the cleaning process, reducing the potential for instrument breakage or loss. The organized cassettes reduce handling of instruments, PROVIDING SAFER PROTOCOLS AND MINIMIZING RISK OF SHARPS INJURIES TO BOTH PATIENT AND CLINICIAN.
Cassettes containing an entire procedures' instruments are packaged in one sheet of wrap or one pouch for sterilization, REDUCING THE AMOUNT OF PACKAGING CONSUMABLE USAGE. The cassette design permits OPTIMAL PENETRATION OF STEAM to instruments during sterilization.
Each cassette and packet is placed in an AUTOCLAVE. An autoclave is a device used to sterilize equipment and subjects them to high pressure of saturated steam. This allows the instruments to be ready for use with each and every patient.
Radiation Hygiene
Radiation Hygiene is a primary concern at Foxx Dental of Franklin Square. Each of our x-ray units is equipped with a rectangular collimator. The purpose of this additional piece of equipment is to reduce the size of the x- ray beam and as a result REDUCES PATIENT EXPOSURE during routine dental x-rays. Studies have shown a 60% reduction of exposure and a five fold decrease of the effective dose to the patient with the use of a rectangular collimation device.
Foxx Dental of Franklin Square provides each patient during routine x-ray examination with an APRON GUIDE. As recommended by the National Council on Radiographic Protection, a THYROID SHIELD is provided for all children and adults. This collared apron provides protection in front from thyroid to gonadal area.
The XCP FILM POSITIONING DEVICE used at Foxx Dental of Franklin Square brings a new level of comfort to our patients. This XCP system brings precise film positioning for perfect x-rays and reduces distortion. Rounded bite blocks with no sharp edges IMPROVES COMFORT and the design allows for a SOFTER BITE.
